My journey is rooted in a global academic career of deep research and practical application. Born in Northwest China — where my Chinese name represents a bird flying high — and educated in Beijing, Sydney, Hong Kong, and the U.S., I completed my Ph.D. at the University of Virginia before serving as an international professor. This global path provided the foundation for me to build Teaching Online 123 (TO123) with excellence and scholarly integrity.

Having navigated the evolution of distance learning from its early stages to modern platforms, I designed TO123 to bridge the gap for well-trained professionals.
